Walking, cycling or riding in the landscape

Planning a trip to the beach or a walk in the countryside this summer? Isle of Wight National Landscape work with partner organisations to improve access into the landscape.

Organisations work closely with farmers and land owners to improve existing paths, gates, wooden steps, fencing or even develop new access routes. The projects are funded by an Access for All grant.

Recent projects include the creation of a new footpath into open access land in Chillerton, improvements to bridleways and footpaths in Brighstone, replacement and improved coastal steps at Compton and new gates on Bonchurch Down.

Isle of Wight National Landscape will continue to work with partners as coastal erosion and the effects of climate change are felt throughout the landscape. Many thanks to Isle of Wight Council Rights of Way team, Gift to Nature, National Trust, Natural England, parish councils and land owners for the collaborative effort that goes into making these projects possible.
