The Isle of Wight National Landscape is packed full of magical landscapes, stunning views and vistas, wonderful wildlife and a rich and varied heritage. We believe that the best way to enjoy these treats is by foot or pedal. To help point you in the right direction we are collecting guides to some of our favourite walking and cycling routes. If you have any routes you’d like to share do contact us at unit@isleofwight-nl.org.uk
New guides and walks will be added to this page on a regular basis so you’ll never be short of something to do or somewhere to explore the Island’s finest landscapes.

Tennyson Monument
Take a seat and enjoy the sun, wind and rain from the Tennyson Monument. This walk starts not far from St Agnus’ church in Freshwater, taking the back route up Tennyson Down, providing shelter from the wind. Turn onto the footpath opposite The Piano café, follow the path under Tennyson’s bridge, past the Farringford walled garden and up towards the National Trust car park. A steep path brings you from the car park to the monument where the views of the West Wight impress every time. The gentle walk down brings you back onto the road near Dimbola Museum and Galleries.
